Still waiting…..

Hopefully one week to go before my back splash tile comes in and then who knows when my contractor lady will be able to squeeze me in for the installation.  I can't wait!  It'll be so nice to have the kitchen finished (only hubby wants to buy a new stainless refrigerator now to complete the look.)  I see the $$ flying out this door, believe me!!

We had a nice time on Father's Day.  We met our daughter and her husband on the shores of Lake Michigan in Port Washington, WI for a quick breakfast in a cute outside deli on the breakwater.  The weather was gorgeous with a slight breeze, warm sun and the smell of summer in the air.  Plus you couldn't beat the view!!!

I, naturally, sent out envelopes to my sweeties this week:

LOve that last one, don't you???  My niece is a monster lover and I knew she would get a real kick out of that one.  She called me and couldn't decide which was her favorite.  lol

I read one book this week…..yippee!  This sock knitting obsession of mine seems to be taking most of my time lately!  I try knitting fast, but when I do that and concentrate real hard, it seems as though my eyes don't want to focus on the distance afterwards for some reason.  Old age, probably!  Anyway, this is the book I read and it was quite good:

INVASION OF PRIVACY                         by              Christopher Reich

So, that's the news.  I'm working on sock #6 so soon I should be able to show you the latest pair.  (I hope.)  Until then, you take care and enjoy your week.  Do something fun for yourself!

I can hardly wait to show you…..

Unfortunately, it will be a few weeks yet until my back splash tile is in and installed yet, but the cabinets are done and the doors re-hung with new hardware and all I can say is, "I LOVE IT"!!!  I feel like I'm living in a seaside condo on the edge of the ocean somewhere in maybe, North Carolina….oh, I'm so glad I had my cupboards painted!!!  At first, I choose the wrong color and I was really disappointed after the paint was on, but then I called my sweet contractor lady, explained the situation and she came here immediately with a bunch of color swatches, plus an eventual two "test" quarts of paint and we "nailed" the color I wanted perfectly.  She then painted all the trim pieces that night, plus resprayed the 26 cabinet doors which were at her house the next day, and when she and her son came back in the early afternoon yesterday to paint the drawers, I had no idea that the job would finally be completed last night at 8:00 pm.   Wow!  Now I can't wait for the back splash tile!  And I can't wait to show you!!  Stay tuned……

Needless to say, I had lots of time while I was watching this whole procedure all week, so I finally finished my 2nd pair of socks (which I can tell you in all honesty) I like 100% more than that first pair I knit a week or so back…ugh!  This was much more fun yarn!  And softer too!

Through all of the hubbub in this house this past week, I haven't neglected my little sweeties.  Here are the envelopes with books that I sent out this week:

And then….I actually finished a book this week too and it was good:

THE FIXER                             by                       Joseph Finder

So, that's the news for this week.  Today I have to clean my house.  Poor thing has really been neglected this week and the dust is unbelievable with all the sanding, etc.  Have a good weekend, my friends, and do something fun for yourself!

Let the games begin…...

Well, guess who showed up here yesterday afternoon?  Yup…my contractor lady….AND….she went right to work, as you can tell!!  This should be fun!  (?????)  I think it's going to be a L O N G 2 1/2 weeks (if not longer).  Too bad I'm going to have to look at open cupboards……oh well!

Maybe I should stand on the other side of the island.  This view is much nicer!!  Too bad it is overcast and rainy this morning.  You should see how pretty this view is when the sun is pouring in those windows.

Naturally, I sent out books to my sweeties this week again…….one of these days, I need to work on envelopes.  I'm running low.

And, believe it or not, I did finish a book last week.  (Don't fall over!!)  It was pretty good too!

THE TELLER                           by                          Jonathan Stone

So that's it for this week.  I'm working on sock #2 for the 2nd pair.  Hopefully, I can finish it this weekend.  Slow…but sure!!  Be well, and enjoy your week.  Do something fun for yourself!

1st Pair Done!

Well, things are progressing here.  Hubby and I went to look at tile for the new backsplash in the kitchen on Monday and on the way there, I hit a pothole on a street under construction and when we got out of the tile store, I had the flattest tire you ever saw!  A big rip on the inside sidewall, if you can believe….resulting in a bill of $323 for a new tire and a complete alignment.  Expensive trip and I still haven't decided on tile.  Grrrrr…..!!!  Otherwise everything is slow and sure here.  My contractor hasn't started the kitchen yet…hopefully, next week.  I can't wait until it's done!

Naturally, I sent out books to my sweeties.  They love getting mail!

I finished my first pair of socks!  They're not perfect and I'll admit to a few mistakes in each one here and there, but they fit and they're warm and that's all I care about.  I've already purchased several different kinds of yarn for more.

Here is the beginning of pair of socks #2.  These, I'm going to rib all the way up.

And, that's it!  No books again this week although I am reading one.  IF I finish it, I'll let you know next week.  I think I'm a bit preoccupied with too many other things to concentrate on books.

Hope you all are fine, and healthy.  Enjoy your summer and make sure you do something daily that makes you happy.  That's what life is all about!
